Routing to In Process

Print Monographs:

Quick cataloging procedures apply to print monographs in English and Roman languages as approved by Order Services and Cataloging managers. Procedures should be documented for staff training before such activity occurs. In the past, 'quick cataloging' by Order Services staff meant searching OCLC for acceptable cataloging copy after receiving shipments under criteria established for these materials in their respective procedural documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Approval books lacking acceptable copy will be routed to In Process. No OCLC record will be imported by Order Services.
  • LC New Delhi books are routed to In Process. No OCLC record will be imported by Order Services.
  • Orders Services doesn’t edit metadata in OCLC cataloging records before or after import into ALMA.
  • Books should not be returned to Order Services to fix errors or edit cataloging copy, holdings, etc.

Media (DVD/BLU-RAY):

  • Music scores/parts received on approval from Harrassowitz & T. Front are forwarded with invoices for triage cataloging performed by Metadata Services.
