Woodruff - Tech Services/Preservation Workflow

1. Items Go from Cataloging to Preservation

  • These already have a Woodruff Tech Services work order on them (inherited from Acquisitions or added by catalogers when cataloging).
  • Catalogers or Marking places a Route To Preservation work order on these items, which just changes the status of the original Tech Services work order we placed on it (from In Cataloging to Route to Preservation).
  • Catalogers or Marking places a Routing slip inside the book with notes to preservation and places an item on Route to Preservation shelf.

2. Preservation Picks up Items

  • Preservation scans the items into Preservation when they pick up the items from Cataloging, which places a 2nd work order on them from Preservation (inside/on top of/in addition to the original Tech Services work order in Step 1, so to speak).

Item with both Tech Services and Preservation work orders:

3. Items Leave Preservation

  • Preservation scans the items out of Preservation, which takes just the Preservation work order off (not the first Tech Services work order).
  • Items are not In Transit because they still have the first Tech Services work order on.

4. Items Go to Stacks or Back to Marking

Stacks removes Tech Services work orders.

  • If the item belongs to Woodruff, it is now back in place.
  • If the item belongs to another library, it is now In Transit to that library.

Marking prints the label and removes Tech Services work orders.

  • If the item belongs to Woodruff, it is now back in place.
  • If the item belongs to another library, it is now In Transit to that library.
