Enter Diacritics in Metadata Editor
Copy and paste them from another record, a word or web document, or the Windows Character Map, and paste into the Metadata Editor.
This document details how to copy and paste from the Character Map, which is a program all Windows machines have containing a multitude of diacritics and special characters.
Find the Windows Character Map program
Click on the Start Menu button on the bottom left of your Windows Taskbar, and type in "character map" to find the program
Click on Character Map to open the program
You can also right click on the name of the program to pin it to your Start Menu or Taskbar, or to make a desktop shortcut to it.
Check the Advanced View box at the bottom to enable text search of special characters
Find the special character you need
When you hover over each character, the Unicode code and name of the character will display.
The Advanced view will allow you to search by name for a character (1).
You can narrow down your search by changing the Character Set that is being searched (2).
To select a character, click on the character (1) and then click Select (2).
This adds your character to the Characters to Copy box (1).
Then click Copy to copy the character to your clipboard (2).
Paste the character in your record in the Metadata Editor
You may want to start your own list of frequently used special characters
This one is using the Sticky Notes program, software available on any Windows machine.
